Why Single Cell Translucent Blinds Can Be A Great Home Addition

One of the main features that many people like about single cell translucent blinds is how they add a warm ambiance to a room while allowing the homeowner a lot of flexibility with light control. Many translucent shades are made from a fabric that with light colors. This helps to filter sunlight while that shades are closed but also allowing a controlled amount of sunlight while they are open.

The fabric in translucent blinds is often made from a polyester fabric. This gives the window covering a soft feel while still making it very durable. It can be a great way to shade a window on a hot summer day or allow a soft natural glow when it is a bit cooler.

The vertical positioning single or double cell blinds makes it an ideal fit for a variety of different window sizes. It is possible to have these shades custom fitted for each individual window if you choose.

What are some of the sizes they come in?

Translucent shades come in a variety of sizes including 1/2", 3/4", 9/16", 3/8", and can also be custom fitted.

Can you get outdoor translucent blinds?

Yes. Many companies produce exterior blinds. One company called Hammacher Schlemmer has a product that can be mounted outside of your house. One of the main benefits of having outside window coverings is that it blocks up to 92% of the sun's UV rays. This makes your home naturally cooler during the summertime and can result in a decrease in air conditioning costs. The way that outdoor window coverings deflect sunlight also decreases the amount of glare that enters the home through the window without blocking your view of the outside.

Some of the outdoor blinds are motorized and some have a pull chain mechanism that allows you to change the position of the slat manually. They are also made of a durable fabric that withstands the elements and does not fade, crack, grow things like mold and mildew.

You can simply clean them with a mixture of soap and water. There is no special solution needed. People often prefer to have translucent exterior blinds because they do not hang indoors and collect dust like their interior counterparts.

You can expect to spend upwards of $100+ for many of the models out there, but you can also find cheap or discounted translucent shades at most home improvement stores such as Lowes of Home Depot.

Whether you prefer indoor/outdoor or single/double translucent blinds, you will likely not be disappointed in the outcome. They provide the best of both worlds by giving you maximum light control, the ability to raise and lower them to the position of your choice, and protect your home from UV rays.

Whatever kind you choose, be sure to do your research ahead of time and find the perfect look to accent your home. Good luck!
